This should only be used to give enough time to devise an appropriate long term solution. It will take hearts and minds to tackle this problem. Voices like Lorcan will help us on our way.”

The link above is to a post by Noel J. Brady saying that in 1992, when it hosted the Olympics, Barcelona used cruise ships docked in the harbour to provide a needed increase in available accommodation. He suggests that Dublin might consider the same approach to tackling the housing crisis, concluding that, “While it is not an optimum solution it can provide a necessary lifeboat to get ahead of the rising tide.”
