Tech companies generate billions for the Irish exchequer in corporation tax. With that being the case, they have a considerable amount of power and sway over the Irish government.

This reminds me of the power and sway the Catholic Church had over previous governments and politicians. I feel like Mark Zuckerberg is like a tech bro version of Archbishop John McQuaid.

In the illustration, we can see Micheál Martin and Simon Harris bow before the behemoth that is Big Tech. The difference here is that the State takes the funds from the collection plate.

I work as a political cartoonist for the *Irish Examiner* and *Sunday Independent*. [@HBtoons](https://www.instagram.com/hbtoons?ref=dublininquirer.com).
