As the government blocks funding for major social-housing projects, FF and FG councillors point fingers at ministers
As many as 1,325 social homes in Dublin city are at an advanced stage, with planning granted – but now with no clear funding.
Hines has offered the council 60 studios for an average of €300,000 each in the developer’s planned complex on Clonliffe Road in Drumcondra.
Councillors weren’t impressed by that idea – or the plan for all the social homes to be clustered at one end of one apartment block.
The council says it wants mixed neighbourhoods so it tries to gets its slice of “Part V” social housing on-site in new developments. Costs mean it’s looking to relax that.
