Dublin councillors were looking at Limerick as a model for regeneration. But there’s disquiet there now, with concerns about transparency, oversight, and control over development.
Lois Kapila, Sam Tranum, Sunni Bean, and Laoise Neylon in the Dublin Inquirer office in March 2025.
Launched in 2015, Dublin Inquirer is a local, independent newspaper, dedicated to quality public-interest journalism. We publish online on Wednesdays and Fridays, and in print monthly.
We aim to bring you stories that otherwise wouldn’t be covered, and that you won’t find anywhere else. We’re committed to understanding, and helping readers to understand, what and who is shaping the city today.
We cover, broadly, housing and homelessness, transport, planning, immigrant life, the environment and climate, community safety, arts and culture, and food – in the Dublin City Council and Fingal County Council areas.
If you'd like to a peek into our finances – where our money comes from, and how we spend it – have a read of this. And if you've any questions, feel free to ask.

Press Council
This publication supports the work of the Press Council of Ireland and the Office of the Press Ombudsman, and our staff operate within the Code of Practice. You can obtain a copy of the code, or contact the council, at presscouncil.ie, Lo-call 1890 208 080 or email: info@presscouncil.ie.
We are customers of Reporters Shield, "a membership program that defends investigative reporting from legal threats meant to silence critical voices". Which means we have a kind of legal defence fund to pay for lawyers if we need to fight to defend our journalism. Although this is not defamation insurance, and so if we fight and lose, there's no fund to cover our opponents' legal costs, or any awards against us.
