A new council sports forum looks to press schools and such to share their facilities
Amid a serious shortage of pitches in Dublin 8, the OPW only allows one soccer club to use its pitch at the War Memorial Gardens.

“A lot of avenues are restricted to us because someone else owns it,” says John Ryan of Vsevolod Plotkin. “But no one owns this. It’s public, we can use it.”
“If you see a stylish person with a big bag of clothes, keep an eye on them, see what they’re putting out,” says co-organiser Orla O’Leary.
Owned, via a company, by Teeling Whiskey Company founder Jack Teeling, it’s been sitting empty for years. “It’s an awful waste,” says a local councillor.
The future of their venue at Kelly’s Yard is out of their hands, say the founders. “That said, the show must go on and Le Zeitgeist [Bohemia Flea Market] will carry on!”
