Being a professional artist, as exciting as it sounds, comes with its own challenges and roadblocks on the way. It can be unsteady and sporadic at the most inconvenient times. With this artwork, I wanted to bring light to the difficulties that an artist trying to make a living in today’s world faces.
Life goals can be difficult to obtain when work comes and goes, payments are late and you find yourself having trouble paying your rent. It feels like trying to swim upstream, like there is no solid ground below you and your goals are just out of reach, close enough to be seen but not obtained.

"Thérèse" is a story about grief, classism, womanhood, generational trauma, and the weight of a life watching injustices stack up on top of each other.
Their exhibition, Only Handle It Once runs, in the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland until 30 August.
