Dublin councils are to look at buying or building homeless hostels
“We have an over-reliance on the private sector, it is expensive, it is poor value for money,” says Mary Hayes, director of the Dublin Region Homeless Executive.

For years, an operator has paid to collect used clothes. Going forward, the council will have to pay for the service, a spokesperson said.

The Land Development Agency is planning a mix of cost-rental and social homes at the Bluebell Waterways development.
