From a Dublin base, an anti-caste influencer grows a global audience
In less than two years, Amit Wasnik has attracted tens of thousands of online followers with his posts focused on the life and ideas of BR Ambedkar.
 
Off-licence Redmonds, and sound-systems purveyor SoundHire, have been around for decades, and the families that run them are full of pranks and memories.
 
“We vote in Ranelagh, but we feel Rathmines,” says Trowdy Ferguson, rocking the pram back and forth on the garden path, on Belgrave Square.
 
The rent’s up and Ranelagh Arts can’t pay, so it’s out 8 October and hasn’t found a new home yet. This is one more change in a changing neighbourhood, and one more lost arts space in the city.
 
“You’re dealing with huge trucks on very small roads that aren’t necessarily designed for them,” says Green Party city councillor Patrick Costello.
