When I moved to Dublin many years ago one of the first things that struck me was the frequent sight of urban foxes near city parks, suburban gardens or even busy alleyways. Back in Poland, where I originally come from, these sleek predators would only be seen deep in the woods in their natural environment.

Today the sight of a fox marching along the Merrion Square or jumping the fence near Harcourt Street does not surprise me anymore. The only question that remains is whether the fox has voluntarily chosen our company or if we forced our sprawling city upon its natural habitat.
